Monthly Musings: Responsibility

Travel is truly when I am happiest, when I am most myself. Exploring the world with people I love. Learning about different cultures, spending time getting to know the local people, and gaining a better perspective of how it all works. The world at large is a beautiful puzzle, an intricate system.. and we are so much more connected than we think. What we buy here, is made way over there. What laws we vote on in the US, determine conditions for countries we barely know exist. Learning how big the world is, and how small we individually are- you would think it would feel daunting. Maybe somehow, make me realize how irrelevant the work I aim to do may be, in the grand scheme of it all. But what it’s taught me is this: we each play a small part in the shaping of a larger destiny. What we do, how we think, how strongly we love, and how deeply we connect with the world directly around us, has an impact we can’t always see. The ripple effects of my parents love, humanity, and desire to make the world a better place, unknowingly shaped the person I am and is in turn, directly responsible for helping these communities of women in Cambodia overcome poverty. What I am trying to say is; everything you do matters, the way you love and the way you live, no matter how big or small matters, you are changing the world simply by being in it. What a responsibility, and what a gift.
